Food shipments are held at the destination for paperwork far more often than for quality. A missing phytosanitary certificate or a certificate of origin that does not match the invoice will hold a container at the port, and demurrage accrues daily while it is sorted out.
The export file is prepared alongside the goods and checked against the destination’s requirements before despatch. We ship full containers, LCL consignments and consolidated mixed loads where a buyer wants several products in one container rather than several shipments.
